UNCLE JOE FINISHES HIS TALES OF

BLACKBEARD

Uncle Joe drove up and got out of his vehicle carrying two large pizza boxes, two six packs of soft drinks and a grocery bag dangling on his arm.

“Could use some help here!” he yelled.

All four kids ran down the steps and grabbed something.

“What’s in the bag?” Bobby asked.

“Some cookies, and chips.” Uncle Joe answered.

“I figured you guys would be up late and these pizzas want last long.”

“Sounds like a feast is on the menu.” Tommy said.

“Tommy to be so skinny, you’re a bottomless pit.” Cindy replied. “Do you ever get full?”

“Sometimes, but not often, he answered all smiles, but this just might do the trick.”

“Well, lets get started, Uncle Joe laughed, besides I want to see what you guys learned about our friend Blackbeard in all those books you’ve been reading.”

As they entered the house Uncle Joe led the way to the den, where he plopped the pizza boxes on the coffee table.

“How about you ladies getting some paper plates, napkins and straws from the kitchen. You boys clear the table and get the coasters for the drinks.” He ordered.

Finally, they were settled. Uncle Joe in his recliner with two big juicy pieces of pepperoni pizza on the paper plate, and a coke on the side table. Bobby, already digging into his pizza, with a string of cheese running from his mouth to his plate, broke the string with his finger and sucked it up like a spaghetti noodle.

“Uncle Joe, Mary started, we read about some tunnels in Savannah, Georgia that pirates used to escape through when the authorities were after them. Are there any tunnels in Bath?”

Uncle Joe thought for only a minute. “ I don’t think so, but if there had been I’m sure they would have been discovered by now, and I’m sure I would know about them. When Blackbeard came here he came to be pardoned. Therefore he was in no danger and wouldn’t
